On Sunday 17th July Cumbria Constabulary is holding a Roadsafe event at Carlisle Racecourse. The event is geared towards road safety and casualty reduction and is aimed at all road users but particularly motorcyclists and young car drivers. The force has a big input with ‘Bikesafe’, which is a national police initiative to reduce casualties among motorcyclists. The force would also like to include car drivers in road safety initiatives aimed at reducing casualties.

This year’s inaugural event is being held at Carlisle Racecourse, which has excellent facilities both outdoors and indoors and has ample parking and is easily accessible from all parts of Cumbria. If successful it is anticipated that this will become an annual event. The event will take place between 10am and 5pm and all proceeds raised on the day are for charity, which on this occasion will be for the Cumbria Air Ambulance.

Admission on the day will be £2 per adult and £1 for children. No unaccompanied children allowed under the age of 16 years. Programmes will be available on the day for £1 and will include an entry form for a draw to win a Track Day at Donnington Park. There will also be a raffle with prizes including a VIP Day at Carlisle Races.

It is hoped that the ‘Pride of Cumbria’ Air Ambulance will also be in attendance.
